A Change of Plans

Well, we decided to change our plans just a little bit. On day two, instead of going to Reno, we'll be going to Sacramento to visit my uncle and cousins. We haven't seen them for a while, and figured it was worth the reconfiguring! I'm getting super excited to go, but I have sooooo much to do here at home before we leave.

Since I've done most of the planning, Jason's going to help with some of the preparations. He's going to do the laundry and clean the bathroom! Yay! I'm busy indexing for Jack, and getting everything else ready.

Still Preparing

So, I changed the layout of this blog yet again.... But this time more personalized. I'm a geek, and I know it. And I'll probably fiddle with it again before we leave, but that's just the way I am!

Also, on the right hand side under my description/bio thing, there's now something that says "Links" and has a link to my flickr photos on it. So now you can just click and go! Whee!

Today Jason and I went to the ophthalmologist to get Jason a new glasses prescription, and a pair of sunglasses. Much needed for the trip! They should be here in time, but we'll see.

We also got a nifty thing that transmits Jason's iPod to our FM radio, and it works great! After reading some reviews I wasn't sure how well it would work, but it's awesome.

Two Weeks!

Wow, I can't believe we're leaving in two weeks. I'm so excited! I'm starting to get stuff together for in the car. I also re-did one of our reservations to make the grand canyon day a little bit shorter. Most of our driving directions are done, I just need to print them out. And I still have to buy snacks for in the car. But so far it's going good, and we're just excited it's coming up so soon!!

So much planning!

So since I've never been on a road trip before, I feel like I might be putting too much planning into this trip. From detailed driving directions and contact information for each night, I'm feeling worn out already! We have some pretty big days ahead of us. But I'm getting excited, it's only a few weeks away! If you think of something that you couldn't live without, feel free to post a note in the comments, or let me know!

Reservations

Well, our last reservation has been made! I booked a hotel for DC so we would have more time for sightseeing. It's in Arlington, and all of 2 stars! We're really classy. Just over a month before we go, and we're super excited! I have to start marking our map next, and getting out my post-it notes, so I know what exits to take and so forth. I'm thinking about putting together a binder, to keep print-outs of all our reservations and itinerary plans in. I burned my finger this morning, so I'll keep it short.

One last thing though, thank you SOOOOO much to those who have made contributions. You don't even know how much it helps us! I've been wanting to do this type of road trip for so many years, and it's going to be a reality!!!

More Preparations

Well, the planning is mostly done, and now it's just the getting ready stuff. I found an awesome beach bag to use for toiletries. It's exciting to me, but Jason just thinks it's silly. I aso got a new camera, so I'll be able to take awesome photos on our trip. And I set up a flickr account so that people can see photos, and aren't limited to the photos on blogger! That's all for now!

Spending Money

Well, I started making reservations today. All in all, we'll be camping 10 or 11 nights. Still waiting to find out if we have someone to stay with in Washington DC. Not too terrible! I started making a few reservations, for places and nights we knew would be busy. It's a long process. Jason laughed at me because I made an excell spreadsheet. What do you expect! I was born a Spears!

It's nice having this mostly planned out. Just a few more reservations, and then the waiting game of when we get to leave! If anyone feels like contributing toward the gas fund, we would not decline it! I hope prices don't raise too much more before August!
